It’s a good time to make a will. It provides for those we love.

We take the time to make it easy for you

As you start to think about making a will, ask yourself;
Do you want to give away your assets while you're still alive or after your death?

Think about it this way: If you want to give assets to people after your death, you need to make a will. If you don’t, the law decides who will get what and in what proportion. Without a will you lose complete control over the disposal of your assets on your death.

That’s called dying intestate. If you die intestate, the law decides and that will be dependent on whether you have a spouse or civil partner and children or no children

The best course is to make a will knowing that you can change it and even cancel some or all of it later. We can help you do that respectfully and as painlessly as possible.

The knowledgeable recommendations that Declan offered enabled my Will to be compiled in a much more inclusive way. Because of the COVID restrictions at the time, a face-face meeting was out of the question so a “face-time” meeting on a social media app was employed instead. The final signing and witnessing of the Will document was done very professionally, in view of the problems caused by social distancing. At no point did I feel in any way Nosophobic….”

Any time you are entering into a legal contract it’s always best to understand the principles behind each piece of paper you sign.

If you are thinking of making your will, here are a few things that you need to give some thought to.

When You Make a Will

You can change it at a later date as your circumstances change or the circumstances of those who you wish to benefit changes. You can even cancel some or all of it later.

You can tax plan effectively to minimise taxation for those who follow after you, in plain English, save them money.

You can decide who will look after your children and appoint what are called Guardians.

You can decide who looks after the money that you might leave to dependents. These are called Trustees. If you are uncertain as to what you want in your will, you can give discretion to your Trustees. This is called a Discretionary Trust Will.

You can provide for your children who are still of an age and situation in life where they might reasonably expect support from you.

You can declare your funeral or burial wishes. Do you wish to be cremated or buried? Do you care?
